On October 24, 2023, the Foreign Trade University warmly welcomed a delegation from the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the University of Western Australia (UWA) to visit the campus and participate in the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the two universities.
The University of Western Australia (UWA) is one of the top 8 universities in Australia and among the top 100 universities globally. It is situated on the banks of the Swan River, just 5 km from the commercial center of Perth. The main campus is in Crawley, with additional campuses in Claremont and Albany. UWA takes pride in its high-quality graduates, with top average starting salaries in Western Australia. The university boasts modern technical facilities suitable for fields such as health, medical sciences, law, politics, economics, commerce, and engineering.
Representing UWA were Mr. Dave Connell - Deputy Director of Global Innovation, Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Education; Ms. Hannah Vu - Manager of Global Innovation, Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Education; Ms. Van Tran - Regional Admissions Manager, Marketing and Branding Department; Prof. Michael Palmer - Lecturer in the Business School.
From the side of the Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Hien - Head of the Training Management Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hang - Head of the Organization - Human Resources Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien - Head of the International Cooperation Department; MSc. Nguyen Huyen Minh - Head of the Communication and External Relations Department, along with other university officials and staff.
Opening the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong delivered a welcoming speech to the visiting delegation. She emphasized that establishing a cooperative relationship between the two universities would create numerous opportunities for learning and experience exchange for not only students but also the university's lecturers and staff.
Addressing the audience, Mr. Dave Connell expressed appreciation for the warm welcome from the leadership of the Foreign Trade University. UWA values the reputation and teaching quality of the Foreign Trade University and hopes to collaborate and promote potential programs in the future.
Representing the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, Mr. Chris Morley affirmed that the Australian Embassy would continue to play a bridging role in connecting Australian universities with Vietnamese universities, especially with the Foreign Trade University. He also hoped that more opportunities for cooperation, such as the present one, would expand and connect in the future.
This agreement will serve as a foundation for students from both universities to access courses and academic materials, participate in international research projects, and build personal relationships on an international scale. It also provides an opportunity for students to develop cross-cultural management skills, understanding of different countries and cultures, along with the ability to work in a global environment.
This collaboration agreement not only marks a significant milestone in international cooperation between the Foreign Trade University and the University of Western Australia but also enhances the international reputation of both institutions.
During the ceremony, representatives from both sides discussed potential cooperation opportunities, including the development of teaching programs, personnel training, as well as short-term and long-term student exchange programs.
