FTU CELEBRATES BUNPIMAY 2025 WITH LAO STUDENTS

On the afternoon of April 15, 2025, FTU hosted the “Bunpimay 2025” celebration to welcome the Lao New Year with Lao international students currently studying at the University. The program took place in a warm and culturally rich atmosphere that reflected the vibrant traditional identity of Laos.

Distinguished attendees from FTU included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Hien – Vice President; MSc. Dao Thi Thu Ha – Deputy Directorof International Affairs; MSc. Tran Song Thanh – Deputy Director of the FTU Student Support Center; Dr. Bui Lien Ha – Head of the Departmentof Political and Student Affairs; MSc. Nguyen Huyen Minh – Head of the Departmentof Communications and CommunityRelations; and MSc. Dinh Thuy Tien – Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union; along with staff, faculty members, international students, and Vietnamese students.

Representing the Embassy of the Lao PDR in Vietnam was Mr. Kham La Phommakhot – Second Secretary, Education and Culture Section.

In her speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Hien expressed her delight in joining Lao students to celebrate the traditional New Year, emphasizing the festival's significance not only as a time of joy and blessing but also as a moment to reconnect with cultural roots and foster friendships. She highlighted the importance of cultural diversity and harmony at FTU.

She also commended the outstanding contributions of Lao students to academic achievement, cultural and sports exchanges, international programs, and community service. Notable accomplishments included: winning third prize in the 2025 “Huong Tet” Spring Contest, winning first place in mixed doubles and men’s singles at FTU Olympic 2024, participation in events like ASEAN Colors at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and football tournaments, and particularly, a Lao student winning the global championship at the Social Business Creation 2024 competition.


On this occasion, she wished all Lao students a happy new year full of health, happiness, and success in their studies and future endeavors.

The event featured traditional rituals such as the thread-tying ceremony, gratitude ceremony, the Lamvong dance, and cultural performances by Lao students, showcasing their heritage and dedication.

Beyond a New Year celebration, Bunpimay at FTU served as a meaningful bridge to help Lao students feel connected and supported in a welcoming, humane academic environment.
