From March 30 to April 3, 2025, at the invitation of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology under the Ministry of Technology and Communication of the Lao PDR, a delegation from Foreign Trade University (FTU) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan – President of FTU – paid an official visit and held working sessions in Laos.
The visit aimed to exchange cooperation initiatives in education, training, and human resource development linked with technology and modernization, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Key activities during the visit included:
· A meeting with H.E. Borviengkham Vongdara, Minister of Technology and Communication of Laos, to discuss cooperation initiatives and opportunities in education and human capital development aligned with modernization and technology.
· Participation in Lao Digital Week 2025, themed “Developing a Strong and Sustainable Digital Infrastructure for Laos.” The forum provided a platform for agencies, organizations, enterprises, and citizens to connect, share, and promote digital innovation. The event was attended and chaired by H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary and President of Laos, along with senior government leaders and international guests.
· Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between FTU and the Lao Institute of ICT during the event. The MOU paves the way for in-depth cooperation in developing and implementing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in economics and business, faculty and student exchanges, capacity building, joint research projects, and co-hosting of thematic seminars.
· A working session with Sengsavan Education Group to explore Laos' private education landscape, market demands, opportunities, challenges, and areas of mutual interest.
This visit and partnership signing mark a significant step in expanding FTU’s global partner network and affirm its mission to enhance the quality of education, research, and knowledge transfer for the sustainable development of both Vietnam and Laos.
