“FTU JAPAN BUSINESS GATEWAY” – A FORUM STRENGTHENING FTU–JAPAN BUSINESS CONNECTIONS

On April 23, 2025, FTU hosted the “FTU Japan Business Gateway” forum to promote connections between the university and Japanese enterprises, creating academic and career development opportunities for students.

Distinguished guests included H.E. Ito Naoki – Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam; Mr. Masahiko Kato – Governor of Mizuho Bank; Mr. Mitani Mitsuru – former Chairman and Special Advisor, and Mr. Aiba Tatsuya – former CEO and Senior Advisor of Mitani Sangyo Corporation, along with other representatives from Japanese companies.

From FTU: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan – President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien – Director of International Affairs; Dr. Tran Thi Thu Thuy – Dean of the Faculty of Japanese Language; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien – Director of the Vietnam–Japan Human Resources Development Institute (VJCC); Dr. Hoang Tuan Dung – Director of FTU Student Support Center; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Tran Trung Dung – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Banking.

The forum featured discussions on the “FTU Japan Business Gateway” initiative, which aims to link education with Japanese business, enabling students to enhance their professional skills.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan highlighted FTU’s strategic partnership with Japan, particularly with Mizuho Group. He emphasized the initiative’s importance as a bridge connecting academia and business, spurring innovation and high-quality workforce development.

Dr. Tran Thi Thu Thuy further presented the initiative, outlining FTU’s vision as an innovative university with robust academic programs in economics, business, finance, and Japanese language. She spotlighted notable achievements, including the “Japanese Business Methodology” program delivered by business leaders from Japan. The Gateway initiative aims to be a central hub linking FTU with Japanese firms and students for deeper cooperation and real-world integration.

H.E. Ito Naoki praised FTU for producing talented graduates who strengthen Vietnam–Japan ties. He emphasized the role of the initiative in enhancing Japanese language education and recruiting globally competitive young professionals.

Mr. Masahiko Kato expressed admiration for FTU students’ quality and affirmed the importance of resilience and adaptability in building a successful workforce. He pledged continued support for FTU’s educational efforts and expressed hope to see more Vietnamese graduates working in Japan.

The open discussion session reaffirmed the importance of linking education with industry, particularly in Japanese–Vietnamese cooperation. Delegates shared a common vision for training creative, adaptable talent and improving Japanese language instruction, internships, and job placements through close school–enterprise collaboration.

The forum underscored FTU’s commitment to delivering high-quality education and cultivating a globally integrated academic ecosystem.

During the visit, Mr. Kato also delivered a special guest lecture to students in the Japanese Business Language Program, as part of FTU’s series on Japanese business methods.
