On June 7, 2023, Mr. Yamada Takio, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, graced Foreign Trade University's Hanoi Headquarters with an insightful discussion on "Vietnam - Japan Relations: Origins and Future," engaging teachers and students.
The talk also welcomed the presence of Ms. Okamoto Noriko, Second Secretary in charge of education at the Japanese Embassy. Representatives from Foreign Trade University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of FTU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of University Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Thuy, Dean of the Falcuty of Japanese, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien, Director of the Vietnam - Japan Institute for Human Resource Corporation Center (VJCC), along with heads and deputy heads of other departments as well as well as a number of students and staff from the university.
Ambassador Yamada Takio's presentation encompassed two primary themes. The first segment delved into the historical roots of Japan - Vietnam relations, born from the resonance and mutual understanding between the two nations. The second part, titled "Japan - Vietnam Relations: Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Establishment between Japan and Vietnam - A Leap Towards the Future, Venturing into the Global Stage."
An enthusiastic Q&A session ensued, where students from Foreign Trade University engaged Ambassador Yamada Takio on a spectrum of pertinent topics. Discussions spanned the trends of globalization and their implications on the relationship between the two countries, an evaluation of Vietnam's contemporary human resources, and advice for Vietnamese youngstersventuring into the realm of Japanese businesses. Furthermore, the discourse also ventured into new horizons of cooperative development in the digital era between Japan and Vietnam.
