From June 28 to July 14, 2025, a delegation of lecturers and more than 30 students from Foreign Trade University participated in the International Summer Camp in Wuhan, China.
The program was jointly organized by Faculty of Law, Foreign Trade University and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Dr. Tran Thi Lien Huong and Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy accompanied the student delegation throughout this journey.
During the two-week program, students attended classes on economic and legal issues, including General Chinese Law, which provided an overview of the legal system and important legal areas in China; International Law, which offered insights into international treaties and China’s role in international legal relations. These classes helped students develop a comparative perspective with Vietnam’s legal system. Additionally, sessions on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution introduced international dispute settlement models outside of courts, emphasizing the role of arbitration in international trade; as well as topics on Currency and Finance, focusing on modernization and globalization trends in emerging economies and the challenges of inclusive finance – guiding students to stay updated with new global trends.
Alongside academic sessions, students also engaged in field trips and enterprise visits in China. Highlights included: the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, where students explored processes and methods of international alternative dispute resolution; a visit to the Three Gorges Dam, one of China’s most prominent projects, to learn about the technical and legal issues related to large-scale infrastructure; the Wuhan Real Estate Exchange and the Carbon Emissions Trading Center, which provided in-depth insights into environmental issues and sustainable development in the context of globalization.
The program emphasized not only theory but also the connection between learning and practice. Students took part in Chinese language classes, calligraphy lessons, and extracurricular activities. These experiences helped improve language skills, promoted cultural exchange, and contributed to building international cooperation.
Faculty of Law, Foreign Trade University is committed to developing a curriculum closely linked to practice, fostering liberal and creative approaches in legal education. By combining theory with practice, students gain deeper and more holistic perspectives on global economic, legal, and cultural issues, thereby enhancing their ability to conduct research and apply knowledge in future careers.
The Wuhan Summer Camp 2025 opened up opportunities for FTU students to exchange, learn, and grow in an international environment while still on campus. They had meaningful learning and cultural experiences in China, proudly bringing the red FTU spirit to international friends with openness, dynamism, and confidence!
