On September 23, 2024, Foreign Trade University (FTU) successfully held the 2024 Journal Contributors’ Conference and the Announcement Ceremony of the Journal of Management and International Economics joining the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI).

In attendance from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) were Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc, Director General of the Higher Education Department - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, and Deputy Director General of the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment - Dr. Hoang Hoa Cuong.

Representing Foreign Trade University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - Party Secretary and University President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy - Deputy Party Secretary and Chairwomen of the Board of Trustees, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Standing Party Committee Member and Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien - Vice President, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Thuy Anh - Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Economics and Management, along with Heads and Deputy Heads of various departments within the University. The event also welcomed former leaders, board members, numerous contributors including authors, reviewers, readers, and students.

The event honored the significant contributions of past leaders and contributors to the Journal of International Economics andManagement (the Journal) and announced its official inclusion in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI). ACI is one of the region's prestigious citation indexes, recognizing journals with outstanding research quality and high academic credibility. Joining ACI marks a significant milestone for the Journal in affirming its quality and enhancing its international academic reputation.

Throughout its development journey, the Journal of International Economics and Management (has proudly recognized the immense contributions of its contributors, who have tirelessly dedicated their effort and intellect to elevate the Journal's quality and prestige.

Speaking at the 2024 Contributors’ Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien shared the Journal’s formation, development, and achievements in both Vietnamese and English. Today’s success of the Journal is largely due to the invaluable contributions of its contributors. Thanks to their relentless efforts, the Journal’s quality has consistently improved, gaining increasing recognition within the international scientific community.

During the Conference, the University expressed gratitude for the contributions of past leaders and notable contributors, including active authors and reviewers, and honored the best articles in the Journal's development journey. This was an opportunity to express deep appreciation to those who helped the Journal achieve remarkable milestones.

Following the Conference, the Ceremony announced the Journal’s entry into the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), marking an important milestone in affirming its international standing. Additionally, the event witnessed the announcement and signing of a publishing partnership agreement with the international publisher Emerald, paving the way for strategic cooperation in academic publishing.

In his directive and congratulatory speech, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc acknowledged the Journal's achievements, affirming the importance of enhancing research quality in the context of international integration. “FTU’s English-language Journal of Journal of International Economics and Management (is the only economic journal from Vietnam among the 12 journals joining ACI in 2024. To date, Vietnam has 31 journals listed in ACI, with only four in the economics category. This is clear evidence of the University's efforts to improve research quality and international integration. Achieving this milestone required the strong direction and determination of the University leadership and the unwavering dedication of the Journal’s team. Thanks to this steadfast spirit, the Journal has overcome many challenges, elevated its quality, and established its position within the academic community.” Highlighting future development directions, the Deputy Minister urged FTU and the Journal to develop a long-term strategy, focusing on attracting high-quality research from both domestic and international scholars. He also emphasized strengthening international cooperation, organizing academic seminars and forums domestically and internationally to foster knowledge exchange and experience sharing. Additionally, he advocated for investment in advanced technology and publishing processes, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the review and publication stages. The Deputy Minister affirmed that MOET would continue to support high-quality scientific publications, contributing to elevating the position of Vietnamese higher education internationally. In the future, MOET will develop specific plans to support units in establishing internationally recognized journals, with targets like WoS/Scopus.

At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, President of FTU, shared that over the years, FTU has continuously invested in enhancing the University’s scientific and technological potential, exploring new approaches in science and technology (S&T) activities for faculty and students, including the Journal of Management and International Economics. The year 2024 marked a significant milestone as the Journal officially became a member of the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI). This is not only a proud achievement for the Journal but also a milestone reflecting the continuous efforts of leaders, editors, contributors, and all those who have supported the University. FTU recognizes that joining ACI is only the beginning. Moving forward, we aim to extend the Journal’s reach further, joining prestigious systems such as Scopus and Web of Science. Although these are significant challenges, with a high level of determination and a sustainable development strategy, I am confident that the Journal of Management and International Economics will achieve even greater milestones. To accomplish this goal, FTU will continue implementing comprehensive solutions, such as establishing publishing policies that adhere to international standards, expanding the network of international collaborators, enhancing article quality, and applying digital technology in management and publishing... all aimed at building a truly professional, modern, and globally integrated academic platform. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan also expressed gratitude for the support from MOET, domestic and international scientists, and especially the dedicated contributors, helping the Journal affirm its position and providing immense motivation for continuous improvement.

In a commitment to continued development, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Thuy Anh, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Journal of International Economics and Management, emphasized that being recognized with 1 point by the State Professors Council and joining ACI is seen as an essential step in the University’s overall development strategy. However, the target remains to join prestigious international indexes such as Scopus and Web of Science.

Recently, being recognized with 1 point by the State Professors Council and joining the ASEAN Citation Index are seen as significant steps in FTU’s overall development strategy. The University has always focused on enhancing research capacity and international integration, with the Journal playing a pioneering role, contributing to affirming FTU's position within the domestic and international academic community.

This event is not only an opportunity to reflect on the Journal’s development journey but also the beginning of a new phase aimed at internationalization, improving research quality, and stronger development within the academic community.
