After a period of piloting overseas internship programs for students with various related activities, the Global FTU Ambassadors (GFA) Internship Program for students of Foreign Trade University (FTU) has officially been launched. A delegation from Foreign Trade University (FTU) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President, worked with partners in Japan from March 24 to March 28, 2024, to initiate the program. This program accompanies learners in developing personal skills, professional skills, and adaptability to international labor markets.
The GFA program received positive feedback from various stakeholders within FTU's education ecosystem, including the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, the FTU Alumni Association in Japan, and companies providing and employing labor in Japan. The program has standardized 4 pathways for learners in cooperation with partners, including:
- Orienting Personal career development plan.
- Developing personal skills, job-specific skills, and adaptability to change.
- Developing professional skills, mastery, and management capabilities in specialized fields.
- Developing leadership skills in careers.
During meetings with JANU Tokyo and Sheraton Yokohama, where FTU students are currently interning in Japan, the delegation received positive comments about the students' attitudes and ability to work in an international environment, as well as ideas to refine the GFA Internship Program model towards enhancing the essential competencies for global leaders.
The delegation also worked with FPT Japan on opportunities for cooperation in implementing the Computer Science and Data in Economics and Business Program with a mentoring mechanism, practical course modules, and internships. Given the characteristics of the Computer Science and Data in Economics and Business Program, the internship component plays a particularly important role, and cooperation with FPT Japan will open up opportunities for student exchanges combined with overseas internships for students of this program in particular and for FTU’s training programs in general.
