SIGNING CEREMONY OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN FOREIGN TRADE UNIVERSITY AND BEIJING FOREIGN STUDIES UNIVERSITY (CHINA)

On April 12, 2024, Foreign Trade University (FTU) welcomed a delegation from Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), led by Prof. Dr. Wang Ding Hua, Party Secretary and Chairman of the University Council, as well as organised the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation between the two universities.

The BFSU delegation included Prof. Dr. Wang Ding Hua, Party Secretary and Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Dr. Xu Ye, Party Secretary of the Institute of Asian Studies; Prof. Dr. He Jing, Director of the Office of International Affairs; Prof. Dr. Liu Bo Ran, Head of the Human Resources Department; Prof. Dr. Mi Liang, Director of the Law Institute; and Ms. Guan Xin, Specialist in the Office of International Affairs.

FTU representatives included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, President of FTU; Dr. Ha Cong Anh Bao, Dean of Faculty of Law; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Director of the Institute for Creative Research; Dr. Le Thi Ngoc Lan, Deputy Head of the Department of Research Adminisstrations; M.Ed. Dao Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Director of International Affairs; M.Ed. Le Thanh Thuy Duong, ViceDean of the Faculty of Chinese, along with lecturers and staff from various departments of the university.

In his welcoming speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan shared FTU’s development strategy with a vision to become an innovative university among the leading universities in Asia. Over the course of more than 60 years of building and development, many of FTU’s achievements have been significantly contributed to by the cooperation and partnership with international organizations, universities, businesses, and partners in developing training programs and research activities. Therefore, the university is very open and enthusiastic about cooperation proposals from international partners, including BFSU. Recognizing the similarities in the training fields and development orientations of both sides, the university expects many diverse cooperation activities to be implemented after the MOU signing. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan also expressed joy and excitement about the potential cooperation opportunities between BFSU and FTU in the future.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Wang Ding Hua expressed his gratitude for FTU’s thoughtful reception. He was very impressed by the introductory video about FTU and the core values that the university pursues. He believes that the signing of the MOU today will lay the foundation for establishing common and specific cooperation bases in the future, opening up many practical activities in training, scientific research, and other fields.

During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, President of FTU, and Prof. Dr. Wang Ding Hua, Party Secretary and Chairman of the University Council of BFSU, signed the MOU for cooperation.

As part of the working session, Dr. Ha Cong Anh Bao, Dean of Faculty of Law at FTU, and Prof. Dr. Mi Liang, Director of the Law Institute at BFSU, presented plans for jointly organizing future activities such as international seminars, short-term training programs, and internships for students and faculty.

M.Ed. Dao Thi Thu Ha and Prof. Dr. He Jing also shared their expectations that international cooperation activities between the two universities will focus on in-depth practical activities for students, with student exchange programs being a priority.
