From May 6 to May 18, 2024, Foreign Trade University welcomed a delegation of lecturers and students from the University of South Carolina (USA) to participate in a short-term course on the topic "Development in Vietnam and Cooperation in Asia" (Development in Vietnam and Cooperation in Asia Program).
Within the framework of the short-term exchange and study program, the delegation of lecturers and students from the University of South Carolina led by Mr. Sali Li spent 2 weeks studying and working in Vietnam, being provided with important information, new perspectives on the economy of Vietnam, exchanging and learning about the culture, language, history, and customs of Vietnam.
In Hanoi, in addition to the time visiting and experiencing Vietnamese culture, lecturers and students from the University of South Carolina (USC) participated in studying and discussing the topic "Development in Vietnam and Cooperation in Asia". USC lecturers and students learned and discussed many issues through lectures by experienced lecturers from the Foreign Trade University as well as the Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham). In addition to the lectures, the student delegation had interesting experiences when interacting and exchanging with representatives of organizations through a visit to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the American Center of the US Embassy in Hanoi.
In Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of the Foreign Trade University Campus II welcomed and guided lecturers and students of the University of South Carolina to visit the Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, City Post Office, Ben Thanh Market, War Remnants Museum, etc. In addition to learning about different perspectives on the history of the struggle for independence of the Vietnamese people, lecturers and students of the University of South Carolina visited the Mekong Delta and experienced a 1-day journey on Cai Be Floating Market. Activities in Ho Chi Minh City also included lectures and internships at startups and innovation companies in Vietnam.
Through the Program, lecturers and students from both the University of South Carolina and the Foreign Trade University not only had the opportunity to learn from their partners’ study and research experiences but also made new international friends. At the end of the program, students from the University of South Carolina expressed their satisfaction and joy at having the opportunity to learn about the country and people of Vietnam through the course.
