On May 28, 2024, within the framework of the ACCA APAC Dialogue 2024 (ACCA Asia-Pacific Forum 2024) organized by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), representatives of the Foreign Trade University attended and re-signed the Memorandum of Understanding, establishing bilateral cooperation between the University and ACCA.
Attending the signing ceremony, on behalf of ACCA were Ms. Helen Brand - CEO of ACCA; and representatives of ACCA Vietnam.
On behalf of Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President; Assoc. Prof.Dr. Cao Dinh Kien – Director of International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Kim Anh - Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing; Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Mai - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing, along with a number of staff and lecturers of the University.
At the ceremony, representatives of the two units, Assoc. Prof.Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President of Foreign Trade University and Ms. Helen Brand - Executive Director of ACCA re-signed the memorandum of understanding, establishing bilateral cooperation between the two sides.
The cooperation agreement aims to continue developing the ACCA career-oriented Accounting - Auditing training program (which has been taught at Foreign Trade University since 2016) and coordinate work, integrate other certificates, as well as joint cooperation programs to support the training and development of students towards successful careers in the field of accounting and auditing.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Helen Brand emphasized that Foreign Trade University is considered an important strategic partner in the Asia - Pacific region. She highly appreciated the cooperation results in the past time, especially the outstanding achievements of students of the ACCA Career-oriented Accounting - Auditing program, with students reaching the Top 5 globally and Top 1 in Vietnam every year in ACCA exams, winning high prizes in regional competitions such as ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition 2023, Audit Simulation 2022, 2023 in Malaysia... She also expressed her desire to develop deeper and broader cooperation with Foreign Trade University.
Sharing at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong expressed her appreciation for ACCA's support and wished to cooperate to develop training programs not only aimed at university students but also expanding the target to high school students and postgraduate students.
Also within the framework of the ACCA joint program, representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Business attended the sessions of the Asia-Pacific Dialogue Forum 2024 "Promoting growth through international cooperation and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region". The forum was attended by Mr. Vo Thanh Hung - Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Truong Anh Dung - Director of the General Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Mr. Vu Duc Chinh - Director of the Department of Accounting and Auditing Supervision, Ministry of Finance; leaders and representatives of some units under central ministries and branches; leaders and representatives of associations: Vietnam Tax Consultants Association, Vietnam Accounting and Auditing Association, Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants...
On the UK side, there was Mr. Iain Frew, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Vietnam.
The forum also has the participation of experts, scholars and managers in the fields of management, finance, accounting and auditing from the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam...
The ACCA Asia-Pacific Forum 2024 also brings together hundreds of delegates from state management agencies, enterprises, professional organizations, universities, and research institutes in Vietnam and countries in the region. The ACCA Asia-Pacific Forum 2024 aims to take human resource development, economic cooperation and sustainable development as the foundation, thereby building a strategy to connect the entire Asia-Pacific region for common prosperity in the future.
