They are international exchange students from the United States, Germany, and France currently participating in a short-term exchange program at Foreign Trade University. They were very excited to experience the Vietnamese traditional Tet for the first time.

Louis Wald, from Germany: "Making Banh chung for the first time felt strange and exciting."

Three weeks ago, after celebrating the New Year in Germany, Louis Wald arrived in Vietnam. The young student was thrilled to get the chance to celebrate New Year 2025 once again. When he first arrived in Vietnam, he was fascinated by the bustling streets, the crowded atmosphere, and the sight of people carrying various items, flower pots, and ornamental trees to prepare for Tet.

According to Louis Wald, he chose to come to Vietnam and study at Foreign Trade University because it is a rapidly developing country with many changes. Therefore, he wanted to experience it firsthand during his six-month exchange program.

Nathan Daniel Figueroa (20 years old), from the United States: First time learning about the "Five-Fruit Tray"

Although he did not personally make Banh chung, Nathan Daniel Figueroa discovered the tradition of the Five-Fruit Tray for the first time. He also represented tothe international students about this tradition.

In just two minutes, Figueroa shared his impressions of visiting Hoa Lo Prison for the first time. This place inspired him in arranging the Five-Fruit Tray. Additionally, he conducted online research and collaborated with other students to complete their Tet fruit tray. Their tray included watermelon, apples, bananas, pomelos, Buddha’s hand fruit, roses, and chrysanthemums—symbolizing wealth, prosperity, luck, and abundance.
