From June 6th to June 7th, 2024, the Foreign Trade University delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien - Vice President attended the ASEAN+3 Finance Think-tank Network (AFTN) Conference in Shanghai, China.
The delegation of the University also included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Dung - Dean of the Faculty of Finance - Banking and MSc. Nguyen Huu That - Specialist of the Department of Research Administration.
AFTN was established in 2023 by the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) as a platform for cooperation and dialogue activities in the region, contributing to the resilience, financial stability and macroeconomics in ASEAN+3. As a member of AFTN, Foreign Trade University has actively participated in the activities of the Network including seminars, talks, and academic information exchanges on outstanding economic and financial issues in ASEAN+3. This network also helps Foreign Trade University expand its cooperation with organizations, universities, research institutes, and businesses in the region, serving the development of research, policy consulting, and teaching activities.
This AFTN workshop focused on discussing the issue of population aging in ASEAN+3 countries, its socio-economic impacts, and solutions to transform it into opportunities and driving forces for economic development, especially in the two aspects of digital transformation and comprehensive financial development.
At the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien presented a discussion with speakers at Discussion Session 1 on issues related to labor productivity and digital transformation of the phenomenon of population aging.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien also attended the meeting of the AFTN Steering Committee and discussed the concretization of the Network's operational plan in the coming time. In addition to the seminars, the delegation of the Foreign Trade University and other members had the opportunity to visit and exchange with key leaders of Lianren Health - a Big Data Technology Company in Shanghai, under the National Health Commission of China, with many areas of activities related to providing information and data for the development of services in general and financial services in particular for the elderly.
In addition, the staff and lecturers of the University also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of organizations, universities and businesses from other countries in ASEAN+3 to discuss cooperation opportunities.
