SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MEETS AND WORKS WITH THE DELEGATION OF CURTIN UNIVERSITY (AUSTRALIA)

On January 29, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien - Vice President of Foreign Trade University chaired a reception and working session with Curtin University on the cooperation between the two universities in implementing the Bachelor of Commerce in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Visiting and working with the university, from Curtin University, there were Prof. Rob Evans - Head of the School of Business and International Law; Dr. S Zaung Nau - Program Coordinator of the Bachelor of Commerce program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Ms. Monica Wong - Global Partnership Consultant; and Ms. Tiffany Pham - Recruitment Director in Vietnam.

From Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien - Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thuy Ngoc – Dean of the Faculty of International Training; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien – Director of the Office of International Affairs; Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dat – Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Training and the specialist in charge of the cooperation program between the two universities.

During the working session, Prof. Rob Evans expressed his pleasure to visit Foreign Trade University. Prof. Rob Evans introduced Curtin University, which is ranked 183rd in the world university rankings (according to QS ranking in 2024) and is among the top 1% of universities in the world highly regarded for its academic achievements (according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2022). Currently, besides the main campus in Perth, Australia, Curtin University also has 4 other campuses in Dubai, Malaysia, Mauritius, and Singapore. Perth, where the main campus of Curtin University is located, is a multicultural city with a diverse community from over 200 countries and serves as the gateway to the West of Australia, close to Asian countries. Thanks to the city's position, 30% of Curtin University's students are international students from countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mongolia, and China... Prof. Rob Evans also proposed further cooperation programs such as research collaboration and faculty exchange.

In response to Prof. Rob Evans, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien stated that the joint training programs are attracting the attention of parents and high school students due to the combination of international training and application in the Vietnamese market. Especially, the logistics and supply chain management field is highly sought after due to the current trend of globalizing the world economy, with trade between countries growing strongly. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien also evaluated Curtin University as a suitable partner for the development strategy of the university. He also mentioned that promoting research programs is one of the university's key objectives, and he suggested that Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thuy Ngoc have further discussions with Curtin University to soon implement research cooperation programs.

During this working visit, the delegation from Curtin University also had a direct meeting with lecturers and students of the Bachelor of Commerce program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Dr. S Zaung Nau shared about the study program at Curtin University. In addition to studying, doing projects, and presenting to businesses for internships, students also have the opportunity to visit and practice at large transportation companies such as DHL. Besides, Dr. Nau also guided the lecturers and students of the program on the Curtin University's learning system and submission of assignments to prepare for the upcoming semester.

The meeting was very enjoyable and intimate, narrowing the distance between students, the school, and the partner institution, creating a friendly and effective learning environment, with students at the center in line with the educational philosophy of both schools.

On February 1, 2024, Campus II organized a conference meeting and academic exchange with the delegation from Curtin University (Australia), discussing the Bachelor of Commerce program specializing in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, enhancing and expanding cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research, and teaching between the two institutions, while also outlining future cooperation directions.

During the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Minh - Director of Campus II - FTU warmly welcomed the visit of the Curtin University delegation and expressed sincere thanks to the working delegation. This is the first visit of Curtin University to Campus II since the signing of the training partnership agreement between the two institutions in the Bachelor of Commerce program specializing in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. This visit marks the beginning of a long-term cooperation journey between Campus II of the Foreign Trade University in Ho Chi Minh City and Curtin University to provide students with opportunities to access top-quality education in Australia through collaborative training programs.

During the academic exchange, both sides negotiated and reached an agreement on coordinating international training program management, including program information, academic semesters, and transfer information, providing many advantages for students. Additionally, representatives from both institutions discussed and strengthened cooperation in research and teaching, with the Curtin University delegation and Campus II leadership outlining many potential development cooperation directions in the near future.

The meeting was conducted in a joyful and friendly atmosphere, bridging the gap between students, the university, and the partner university, creating a friendly and effective learning environment with students at the center, in accordance with the educational philosophy of both universities.
