US SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE VISITS FOREIGN TRADE UNIVERSITY AND ENGAGES WITH STUDENTS

In a significant event on April 19, 2023, Mr. Thomas J. Vilsack, the US Secretary of Agriculture, visited Foreign Trade University, where he shared his insights on the topic "Vietnam's Vibrant Future for the Next Generation" with an audience of over 370 students.

The university's welcoming committee included Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and University President, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of University Council, and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Thu Huong, Vice President, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Cao Dinh Kien, Director of Office of International Affairs, and heads and deputy heads of other units, as well as teachers and students.

The visit by the US Secretary of Agriculture was a vital step towards strengthening agricultural cooperation between the United States and Vietnam. This visit aimed to further solidify the already robust partnership between the two nations, as they jointly pursue common objectives, including regional security, economic prosperity, climate change mitigation, and the nurturing of deep and meaningful relations between their peoples.

Mr. Vilsack, the US Secretary of Agriculture, engaged with the students during the visit, underscoring the profound significance of US-Vietnam relations for the future generation of leaders. He also placed great emphasis on the pivotal role of agricultural innovation and trade in ensuring a sustainable, environmentally friendly, and food-secure future.

US Secretary of Agriculture Thomas J. Vilsack reaffirmed the United States' unwavering commitment to sharing crucial information and best practices with Vietnam to address and adapt to the challenges of climate change. In his address, he highlighted the newly unveiled US initiative, the Climate Smart Agriculture Partnership. This initiative is designed to encourage and promote the development and adoption of sustainable agricultural and forestry products, contributing to environmental sustainability and food security.

During this enlightening event, three talented female students from Foreign Trade University had the opportunity to share their personal stories, projects, and journeys as they pursue their passions. Their engaging presentations were warmly received by the US Secretary of Agriculture and the accompanying delegation.
