Originated from the idea of FTU, this was the first time an international forum on education took place in Vietnam. The theme of the 2017 forum revolved around topics related to promoting and managing student mobility, including attracting international students, supporting international students, sending students to study abroad, promoting cultural exchange activities for students, as well as managing the new educational environment that values cultural diversity and competitive advantages.
Representing for Ministry of Education and Training was Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vang – Head of Office of International Affairs. Representatives coming from several embassies of nations in Vietnam also participated in the event. The representatives for FTU included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui An Tuan – President of FTU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang – Vice President of FTU and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy – Vice President of FTU.

This year’s forum included the participation of hundreds of national and international delegates coming from 35 prestigious higher education institutions, including ones coming from countries having a developed education system such as U.S.A, France, Italy, Norway, Japan, South Korea; as well as international institutions on education and embassies of nations in Vietnam.
In the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan – President of FTU had emphasized internationalization in higher education as one of the important strategies that had been applied and promoted by higher education institutions in order to make use of external resources for maintaining internal strength, improving educational quality, enhancing scientific researches and promoting the image, position and reputation of the institution domestically and internationally. Throughout the years, FTU had developed a partnership network including prestigious universities and academic institutes in the world as well as well-known international organizations for cooperation and hosting various events on a wide range of academic criteria such as education, scientific research and cultural exchange.

With the general discussion, panel discussion and three parallel discussions, the Forum was the place where domestic and international higher education institutions could share the experiences and successful models in applying internationalization strategies as well as proposing solutions for the governmental agencies to enhance internationalization in higher education.
The Forum also acted as the networking platform where higher education institutions exchanged information, sought for and formed partnership as the foundation for further international cooperation activities in the future. The forum was expected to take place annually.
Ending of the Forum was marked with the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony of FTU with 3 partner universities: Onomichi City University, Solbridge International Business School (Woosong University) and Inseec Group Paris. The Forum had also passed the Hanoi Declaration.
The Forum on Internationalization in Higher Education: Promoting Student Mobility had successfully taken place, leaving fond memories for partner universities as well as national and international delegates and helping to enhance the innovative position of FTU in internationalization in higher education.
