Kickoff symposium held to mark establishment of Kobe University Hanoi Liaison Base (7 September 2015)
07 Dec 2015On 7th September, 2015, an international symposium titled “Beyond AEC: Implications for ASEAN+6” was held at Foreign Trade University in Hanoi, Vietnam. This symposium, held 55 years after the founding of Foreign Trade University (FTU), commemorated the establishment of the new Kobe University Liaison Base in Hanoi.
FTU News: On 11th September, 2015, three Vietnam Universities has signed agreements with the Global Association for Finance Professionals, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) at UK – Vietnam Forum with the theme "Connecting Opportunities to Partnerships for Sustainability Education" that were convened in London.
The Vietnam-UK Forum under the theme “Connecting Opportunities to Partnerships for Sustainability Education” was organised on 11th September, 2015 in London by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Vietnamese Embassy with the support from the UK Higher Education International Unit (IU) and the British Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). The forum was held to celebrate the 5th anniversary of establishment of the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the UK.

The Foreign Trade University, the Academy of Finance, the DaNang University of Economics signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the participation of Deputy Minister of Education and Training - Mr. Bui Van Ga and senior representatives from Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and delegates from more than 80 universities in the UK and Vietnam.
The agreement between ACCA and the universities help graduated students to equip necessary skills when they work as well as provide an opportunity to experience at work environment.
Mrs. Helen Brand OBE, Chief Executive of ACCA , said: “These are landmark agreements for ACCA in Vietnam, where ACCA and the universities will jointly develop high-quality financial and accounting training programs. There is growing demand for professionally qualified accountants in Vietnam, and indeed the wider ASEAN economic region”.
Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Trong Co , Rector of Academy of Finance, said: "This collaboration not only supports students to have the opportunity to own the most prestigious profession diplomas but also improves their skills to meet the requirement of expertise worldwide. Thence, it opens the way for broader career and job opportunities not just in Vietnam but abroad as well. In this context, businesses are often looking for graduated students who are "ready to work". Today graduates are not just competing for jobs with counterparts from the university in their own country, but those from other countries especially within the wider ASEAN countries".
Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang - Vice President of Foreign Trade University, said: “Through this training program, students will be fully equipped with knowledge and practical skills platform in all areas of finance accountant and audit to become a finance specialist operating in the global environment".
Assoc Professor.Dr.Vo Thi Thuy Anh - Vice President from the DaNang University of Economics, added: “This is a step forward to upgrade the professional qualifications of University of Economics”.

“Through these agreements, ACCA will help graduated students to equip the knowledge and specialized skills in areas such as business management, leadership skills, strategic management, risk management, law business, financial reporting, tax, audit, and above all is professionalism and ethics to be ready to contribute to the development of the business ”. Ms. Le Thi Hong Len, Head of Mekong, ACCA concluded.
Reportedly, ACCA is the largest International Association of Professional Accountants & Auditors and the fastest growing of the world in the industry of Accounting - Auditing with nearly 455,000 students and 178,000 members in 183 countries around the world. In Vietnam, ACCA Vietnam was established in 2002.

The Opening Ceremony of Associate Training Bachelor Programs between FTU and three foreign universities
28 Nov 2015FTU News: On 28th September 2015, Foreign Trade University solemnly organized the Opening ceremony for 6th intake of the progression Bachelor in Finance between Foreign Trade University and Niels Brock Copenhagen Business College (Denmark) and 2nd intake of the progression Bachelor of Science in International Business and Bachelor of Science in Finance between Foreign Trade University and Minot State University (USA).
On 7th November 2015, Faculty of International Education, Foreign Trade University held the Thesis Oral Defense for 42 students in the 5th intake of the Joint Master Program in Business Administration.
FTU News: On November 16th, 2015, on the occasion of 40 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and New Zealand, the delegation from NZ government led by The Right Honorable James Bolger - Former Prime Minister of New Zealand had paid a visit to Foreign Trade University and congratulated its 55th anniversary.
The delegation from New Zealand Government includes: The Right Honorable James Bolger - Former Prime Minister of NZ, Prof Lester Khoo - Director, International Relations and Development, AUT University, Ms. Jane Tran - Vietnam Trusted Advisor, AUT University and senior staffs from Auckland University of Technology (NZ).

During the meeting, the Right Honorable James Bolger highly appreciated the cooperation between two countries: Vietnam - New Zealand, especially in the education area. The close relationship between two countries had set the solid foundation for the Universities to develop further the international cooperation that enable students to enjoy the diverse environment and be engaged in the globalization trend.

On the occasion of FTU's 55th anniversary, Auckland Technology University (New Zealand) and Foreign Trade University had signed the MoU on Developing Network of International Volunteers for teaching English in Northern Vietnam. This project is aimed to support Vietnamese pupils and students to practise and improve their English skills through direct communication with Native Speakers from AUT.

After the Signing Ceremony, the NZ delegation had a workshop with FTU students. During the workshop, students had chance to raise the questions regarding to living style and studying environment in New Zealand. Besides, it is also the great opportunities for students to seek information related to scholarship offers from high-ranking NZ universities. Together with the enthusiastic consultant from partner universities, hopefully FTU students will find it helpful to choose the appropriate path way for themselves in the future.
On December 09th, 2015, the Foreign Trade University gave a warm reception for the visiting of a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Sports Laos with the aim of exchanging experience in the field of testing and quality verification at FTU and institutions of higher education in Vietnam.
The participants of Ministry of Education and Sports Laos include: Mr. Saykhong Saynasine - Vice President of National University of Laos, Mr. Panya Chanthavong - Deputy Director of the Educational Standard and Quality Assurance Centre (ESQAC) of Laos; Ms. Pongming Sisavath - Deputy Director General of the Office of the Party Central Committee of Laos; Mr. Khamphone Sibounheuang - Minisry of Education and Sport Deputy Director of General Cabinet Office of Laos and a number of officials who work at the National University of Laos.
From FTU, there were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of FTU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hong - Vice President of FTU, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thoan - Director of the Center for Information and Testing, Master Dao Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation, Master Vo Sy Manh - Director of the Center for Quality Assurance and staffs.
At the meeting, the two universities had come together to discuss, exchange and share the contents of experience in organizing quality assurance and testing activities as well as the FTU's expreience when hosted the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) 2014.
On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Sports Laos, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saykhong Saynasin had expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the valuable experience of the Foreign Trade University.

FTU News: On January 06th, 2016, Assoc. Prof. Dr Bui Anh Tuan - the President of Foreign Trade University and the Faculty of Business Administration of FTU welcomed and worked with Dr. Anil Puri - Dean of Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, California State University Fullerton (CSUF).
CSUF delegation also got the presence of Mr. Christopher Swarat - Director of the International Business Center cum Associate Director of Bachelor in International Business Administration Program and Ms. Nhan Ho, Program Manager at California State University, Fullerton.
During the meeting, the representatives of both universities had discussed about the International Business Administration Programme, recommended appropriate changes and updated as the require of the two universities. On the other hand, the presidents of both universities also had consulted to continue opening up new content of cooperation in the coming period such as: student and scientific research exchanges, developing the Master joint training program between the two universities.
Workshop of Student Transfer to University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW)
12 Jan 2016FTU News: On January 12th, 2016, the Faculty of Business Administration of Foreign Trade University organised a successful workshop: "Information about Student Transfer at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW)" with the presence of Ms. Dinh Thi Ngoc Lien who in charge of international training programs and many students of Advanced and High Quality Program of International Business Administration of FTU.
According to the transition program, after finish the second or third year at FTU, students follow the Advanced and High Quality Program of FTU will be allowed to attend FHNW University under the program: "3 + 1 or 2 + 2" to obtain a bachelor's degree at this prestigious university.
The University of Applied Sciences Northwestern (FHNW) is currently in top 6 leading universities in Switzerland according to the estimate of the recruitment firms (Economiesuisse 2012). By far, there were 3 students of the Advanced and High Quality Program of FTU transfered to study abroad at FHNW University follow the program: "3 + 1 or 2 + 2".
In the first part of the workshop, Ms. Ngoc Lien shared specific information about FHNW Univesity in particular and the country of Switzerland in general. Coming to this learning environment, students will not only have the opportunity to study and exchange in the multinational learning environment, but also get a chance to improve business skills and explore new places in Europe with low cost. The FHNW Univesity always creates conditions for international students to exchange and study through workshops, group exercises.
The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW ranks amongst Switzerland's leading and most innovative universities of applied sciences. FHNW has many majors such as Applied Psychology, Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics, Art and Design, Life Sciences, Music, Teacher Education, Social Work, Engineering and Business which is located at 3 campuses (Olten, Basel and Brugg). In addtion, FHNW has good quality of teaching and more chances of success when applying for companies, large corporations, so it is no surprise that FHNW is one of the top choices for FTU students to study abroad. We can say that tuition fees and the cost of living are the most concerned factors when studying abroad. According to Ms. Ngoc Lien, tuition in the final year at FHNW is approximately CHF 14,400 includes tuition, registration fees, library fees...
Following the contents of the preamble, in the second part of the workshop, Ms. Ngoc Lien had presented an overview of the study, subjects, semester, credit,... that students can enroll when forwarding. FTU students will study with the Swiss students and exchange students from various universities in the world. In the last year studying in Switzerland, students will learn in-depth about the subjects of finance, marketing and administration. In addition, students also have the opportunity to contact with businesses, corporations to grasp the practical experience and apply to all projects.
The last part of the seminar was a direct exchange program, the representatives from the FHNW University were very enthusiastic and answered all questions of FTU students. Most of the students were interested in working part-time. Ms. Ngoc Lien said that students are allowed to work 12 hours per week and 20 hours during the holidays. Especially in the last part of the seminar, Ms. Ngoc Lien also shared her difficulties and experiences when studied abroad and worked in Switzerland. This was such valuable experiences for the students.
The Master of International Business program in training cooperation with La Trobe University, Australia
26 Feb 2016On February 26th 2016, the High Level Delegation from La Trobe University (LTU) with the presence of: Prof. Amalia Di Iorio - Vice President, Dr. John Bevacqua - Program Director cum International Academic Advisor had visited and worked with the Foreign Trade University (FTU).
Assoc. Prof. Dr Bui Anh Tuan - President of Foreign Trade University and the Faculty of International Education formally welcomed the delegation. During the meeting, La Trobe University have proposed a new model for training Master of International Business program to help students save both time and costs.

Students will be accessed to modern knowledge with 12 core disciplines of International Business with a structural study of 8 courses at Foreign Trade University and 4 courses at La Trobe University, Australia. While studying in Vietnam, the students will have the opportunity to study and work with lecturers of Foreign Trade University and La Trobe University. In addition, students who come to study at La Trobe University also have the chances to live and study in an international environment, with students from different cultures in order to accumulate knowledge and their work experience.
After 1 year, the students will have a master's degree of International Business, not only has international value but also is recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Vietnam. Moreover, the program has flexible enrollment condition which is suitable with graduate and final-year students of all disciplines and types of training. The Master of International Business program in training cooperation between FTU and La Trobe University is one of the course which attracts attention of many students thanks to the prestige and quality of the training program. After graduation, all students of the program have a better chance on getting a great job, some currently hold important positions in the ministries and departments, enterprises or international organizations.
