The signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between FTU and the Development Partners

On December 23th 2017, Foreign Trade University (FTU) signed a cooperation agreement with four development partners: Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN), CSCI Indochina Group, Topica Edtech Group, Vietnam Silion Valley (VSV).

The signing ceremony of cooperation agreements, which was witnessed the representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and many other agencies and organizations have opened a new stage of development for Foreign Trade University.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of companies, partner organizations: Mr. Le Nguyen Truong Giang - Chairman cum CEO of CSCI Indochina Group, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh - Director of Depocen, Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuat - Vice Chairman of Topica Edtech Group, Ms. Thach Le Anh - Project Manager of Vietnam Silicon Valley, Mr. Han Ngoc Tuan Linh, Managing Director of VSV.

On the side of FTU, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Vice President together with some teachers who were leaders of units in FTU.

As one of the first pilot universities to implement self-management, 2017 has marked the end of the pilot phase of Foreign Trade University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of FTU confirmed that during the pilot period, the university has achieved many important results and laid the foundation for development but also set the requirement that FTU needed to develop comprehensively and had breakthroughs in the future. The strategic orientation of FTU until 2030 is to become a multi-disciplinary and multi-field institution, which operates in domestic and international on training activities, scientific research and technology transfer. Foreign Trade University always considers connecting and cooperating with reputable partners as the key to the sustainable development, towards the development goals of one of the leading education brand in Vietnam and contributes to the socio-economic development and international integration of the country.

The Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN) is a leading independent research organization in Vietnam which is established in 2005. With the prestige, resources and advantages of each side, the model of public-private partnership between FTU and DEPOCEN towards the goal of establishing an independent research center that is located at Foreign Trade University.

CSCI Indochina Group is a company operating in 4 main areas: consultancy, strategy, communication, investment. With the advantages of young, dynamic, creative, well qualified and trained abroad lecturers' team, the comprehensive cooperation between FTU and CSCI Indochina Group not only contributes to the link between theory and practice to enhance the capacity of each side but also develops and transfers advanced intellectuals into the socio-economic development of the country.

TOPICA Educational Technology Association is the leading online training unit in Southeast Asia and the first Vietnamese organization to export educational technology abroad. With the reputation of quality training as well as FTU brand, Foreign Trade University cooperates with TOPICA in developing high quality distance learning programs to contribute to the development of a learning society during the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Vietnam Silicon Valley is a project of the Ministry of Science and Technology to commercialize technology according to Silicon Valley model in Vietnam and aims to create a national startup ecosystem. With a community of creative students and alumni who have the spirit of starting a business, Foreign Trade University is one of the leading universities in start-up and innovation, which is toward the start-up university. The model of cooperation between the two sides not only mobilizes new resources for development but also contributes to the improvement of the national startup ecosystem with the official participation of the universities.

In the framework of the signing ceremony, there was also a roundtable discussion between leaders of Foreign Trade University and four development partners.

At the discussion, the guests have discussed and exchanged these following issues: (1) What needs to be done for a university to develop in the present and in the future?; (2) Will these cooperation contribute to the socio-economic development of the country?; (3) In order to make the deals which are signed today possible, how will Foreign Trade University and its partners exploit and utilize their
strengths? (4) Why do the partners choose Foreign Trade University to stick and develop together? (5) What does the school expect from these partnerships?

Four models of collaboration with four development partners contribute to the development of FTU and create new models and cooperation methods. The signing ceremony is the first step to open many opportunities, cooperations and development potential of Foreign Trade University.
