On February 23, 2023, Campus II organized a welcome and working session with the Delegation of the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Attending the reception, on the Indian side, there were Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi - Consulate General of India in HCM City; Ms. Le Thi Tuong Vy - Social Secretary of the Consulate General of India; Ms. Phan Dieu Thanh - Commercial Assistant, Dr. Arcot Purna Prasad - Director of School of Management, CMR University; Prof. Arunkumar M. Khannur – Chief Strategy Officer & Professor of Practice at CMR University.

On the side of Campus II, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of Campus II; Assoc. Prof. Dr.Dr. Pham Hung Cuong - Head of the Department ofResearch Management and International Affairs and teachers and staff of the Department ofResearch Management and International Affairs.

At the working session with the leaders of Campus II, Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi and Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nguyen Thi Thu Ha had discussions over the potential of developing cooperative relationships between Indian training institutions, organizations and businesses in HCM City and Campus II. To be more specific, this includes: supporting connections with universities in India to seek enrollment opportunities for university students to earn degrees from Foreign Trade University, exchange students, and short-term programs; connect with Indian businesses to conduct internship and recruitment programs in Vietnam and orient research cooperation and trade promotion...

The presentation "Prospects of logistics and supply chains in developing countries" shared by Dr. Arcot Purna Prasad with Campus II students took place in a close and interesting atmosphere. Students listened to stories about how the Covid-19 pandemic had created challenges and opportunities for us and what do we need to do to overcome those challenges. Besides, Dr. Arcot Purna Prasad also shared more about the connection programs between CMR University and Foreign Trade University such as: Student exchange programs, scholarship programs, joint programs... are opportunities to connect and exchange professional knowledge in the future.

On November 22, 2022, within the framework of the visit and work in Japan, the delegation of Foreign Trade University led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of the University visited and worked with senior leaders of Chiba University of Technology and officially signed the Academic Cooperation and Exchange Agreement between the two schools.

Attending the Signing Ceremony, on the side of Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien - Director of Vietnam - Japan Human Resource Corporation Center (VJCC); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien - Director of theOffice of International Affairs; Mr. Karasawa Masayuki - Chief Advisor of VJCC Project and Ms. Tran Thi Kieu Minh - Deputy Director of VJCC Institute.

On the side of Chiba University of Technology, there was the presence of Mr. Takeda Yasuhiro - Chairman of the University Council and Council members,Prof. Dr. Matsui Takafumi - President; Prof. Dr. Nagao Toru - Vice President and representatives of some faculties and departmentof the university.

The two sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement in 4 areas of activities:

(i) Research cooperation

(ii) Exchange of professors, lecturers, researchers, and staff

(iii) Student exchange

(iv) Exchange of information, textbooks and scientific publications.

Immediately after this Agreement, the two universities will officially launch training cooperation activities through the Bachelor of Digital Business program with the Vietnam - Japan Human Resource Corporation Center (VJCC) is the focal unit, with modules on Digital Business Projects (DBIZ 1, 2, 3) and exchange activities combined with training lecturers to implement the project-based learning (PBL) model.

The cooperation with Chiba University of Technology has continued the motto of strengthening the cooperation and participation of foreign partners in training programs at the Foreign Trade University, while also opening up new opportunities and prospects for the University in developing training and scientific research. Foreign Trade University is CIT's first foreign partner school in the field of economics and business. CIT professors, lecturers and staff will make every effort to successfully implement cooperation programs and expect good and lasting results in the cooperation between the two universities.

Within the framework of a working visit to Japan, on the morning of November 24, 2022, the delegation of Foreign Trade University led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of the University visited the Head Office of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and worked with Ms. Imoto Sachiko - Vice President of JICA Japan with the goal of consolidating and strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two sides in the new phase of the Project of Vietnam - Japan Human Resource Corporation Center (VJCC).

Welcoming the delegation of Foreign Trade University, on the side of JICA Japan Agency, there were the presence of Mr. Shimokawa Takao - Director of the Economic Development Department; Mr. Sakamoto Atsuki - Head of the Private Economic Development Board and experts from the Private Economic Development Board.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan shared with JICA leaders about the results that Foreign Trade University and Vietnam - Japan Human Resource Corporation Center (VJCC) have achieved in recent times through implementing currently VJCC Project. The results do not only stop at successfully implementing training and consulting activities for Vietnamese businesses according to the Japanese management method but also expand and obtain many meaningful results such as: Businesses and students of the Advanced Business program - Keieijuku are increasingly connecting and developing strongly, becoming reputable businesses in Vietnam, 160 students graduated from training programs run by VJCC Institute to meet the requirements of the high-quality labor market, working in good positions (such as MT - trainee leader) in Japanese and international businesses.

Ms. Imoto Sachiko - Vice President of JICA assessed that the results achieved by the VJCC Project over the past 20 years are proud results because the name and reputation of VJCC has been recognized by the Vietnamese and Japanese social and business community. VJCC has become a regular training unit of Foreign Trade University, associated with Japanese universities.

The working session ended in a cordial atmosphere. The President of FTU presented the Vice President of JICA with a gift for the University's strategic partners, expressing his recognition and expectations for good results in the cooperative relationship between JICA and Foreign Trade University in future.

 

On March 1, 2023, leaders of Foreign Trade University had a working session with representatives of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Attending the meeting, on the side of Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien - Director of Office of International Affairs; Dr. Nguyen Phuc Hien - Director of the Center for Testing and Quality Assurance (KT&QA), Dr. Nguyen The Anh - Deputy Director of the Center for Testing and Quality Assurance, and other officers and staffs of the University.

On the AACSB side, there were Dr. Geoff Perry - Executive Vice President, Global Membership Director & Managing Director of the Asia Pacific region and Ms. Angelina Riviana Chandra - Director of the AACSB Asia Pacific Office.

At the meeting, Dr. Geoff Perry gave a general introduction about AACSB and the process for a university to be certified for quality by AACSB. At the same time, he expressed AACSB's appreciation for the quality of training, scientific research activities and community service of Foreign Trade University. At the same time, he also discussed the benefits of school member of the network of educational organizations in the AACSB community and the international recognition of certificates issued by AACSB.

Through discussions about potential projects, the two units expressed their desire to cooperate in the near future with the goal of achieving AACSB quality certification for FTU’s business training programs.

On January 6, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Pham Thu Huong - Vice President of Foreign Trade University chaired a reception and working session with Education Counselor Trinh Dai Vi and First Secretary Vuong Dinh Quan of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.

Attending the meeting, on the side of Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr.Cao Dinh Kien - Director of theOffice of International Affairs, Dr. Le Quang Sang - Dean of Faculty of Chinese and staff/teachers of Office of International Affairs and the Faculty of Chinese.

Speaking at the reception, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Pham Thu Huong said that Foreign Trade University has a tradition of accepting international students from China to study short-term Vietnamese language training courses as well as undergraduate, master's, and PhD programssince 2006. The university plans to develop new programs such as Chinese studies and satellite programs in the near future. Foreign Trade University wants to develop an exchange program as well as welcome Chinese students to study short-term and hopes that Foreign Trade University students will have the opportunity to study in China. Assoc. Prof. Dr.Pham Thu Huong suggested that the Counselor should support connections between Vietnameseuniversities and Chinese organizationsin exchanging students, lecturers, and academic exchanges with leading universities and organizations of China.

Sharing at the meeting, Education Counselor Trinh Dai Vi said that international cooperation in education is one of the important issues that the Chinese Government pays special attention to. Through this visit to Foreign Trade University, he expects to receive exchange ideas from the University to promote educational cooperation between Vietnamese universities and Chinese universities.

Foreign Trade University and the Embassy both agreed to develop educational cooperation programs, with more policies to develop exchange programs for students, lecturers, along with research and training programs.

On February 14, 2023, Foreign Trade University welcomed and held a student exchange agreement signing ceremony with Wakayama University (Japan).

Attending the ceremony, from side of Wakayama University (Japan) were Dr. Itoh Chichiro - President, Prof. Nagatomo Ayako, Director of the Center for Japanese Studies, Mr. Teramoto Takumi - Head of International Cooperation Department.

From the side of Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien - Director of Office of International Affairs; Dr. Tran Thi Thu Thuy - Dean of the Japanese Faculty; Dr. Bui Thi Loan - Vice Dean of the Japanese Faculty, along with lecturers and staffs of the School.

During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Bui Anh Tuan and Dr. Itoh Chihiro represented the two universities to sign the Student Exchange Agreement.

This framework agreement will be the premise for long-term cooperation between the two universities and open up more opportunities for students to develop, study and enhance their study and work experience in Japan.

On January 6, 2023, before entering the new semester, Foreign Trade University organized an Orientation Session for international students coming to study exchange at Hanoi Headquarters for Semester II of the 2022 - 2023 academic year.

The program welcomed 35 international students from partner schools of Foreign Trade University in 10 countries such as England, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, etc. They all just arrived in Vietnam last week and this is their first time studying at Foreign Trade University. In the 2022 - 2023 academic year, Foreign Trade University has welcomed nearly 100 international students for study exchange and is expected to welcome nearly 800 more students to attend short-term training programs.

Attending the Orientation Session, on the side of Foreign Trade University, there were the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien - Director of Office of International Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Huyen Minh - Head of the Department of Communications and Public Relations, University officials and a large number of buddies who are currently supportinginternational students.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Pham Thu Huong delivered a warm welcome to international students, who are about to become members of the FTU family.

At the orientation session, international students listened to an introduction about the basic features of Foreign Trade University, issues related to studying, training at the school, internship opportunities, job opportunities at businesses in Vietnam. After that, international students had introduction and made friends with the students of Foreign Trade University in charge of supporting international students.

The Orientation session is the first step to help international students gain essential information and quickly integrate into the learning environment at FTUas well as in Vietnam.

On March 6, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President of Foreign Trade University chaired a reception and working session with Ms. Laura Fernández Abad - Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Vietnam.

Also attending the meeting, on the side of Foreign Trade University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Dinh Kien – Director of theOffice of International Affairs; Ms. Dao Thi Thu Ha (M.A.)- Deputy Director of theOffice of International affairs and a number of school officials.

At the meeting, Representatives of Foreign Trade University signed a cooperation agreement for the Spanish Lecturer Support Program with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The cooperation program plays an important role in Spanish language training at Foreign Trade University, helping students toaccess the culture and language of the Kingdom of Spain.

Besides, the cooperation between Foreign Trade University and Spanish organizations is also an important highlight of the meeting. Thereby, Foreign Trade University students will have access to Spain's leading educational programs as well as receive support from Spanish organizations and businesses in developing educational activities and scientific research.

On both 20th and 21st of March, 2023, within the framework of the visit and study in Asian countries, nearly 300 students and lecturers from the University of the Republic, Uruguay attended the short-term academic and cultural exchange program organized by the Foreign Trade University.

The program was attended by speakers: Mr. Raul Silveira – First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic, Uruguay in Vietnam; professors from the University of the Republic, Uruguay and Foreign Trade University.

With the theme "Vietnam's development and cooperation in Asia", the delegation of lecturers and students from the University of the Republic, Uruguay explored and discussed the following issues: Overview of Vietnamese culture, economy and society; Circular economy, start-up – innovation; Investment in Asia and the relationship between Vietnam and Uruguay. Also within the framework of the program, the delegation of lecturers and students of the University of the Republic, Uruguay also had a field visit at the factory of Alphanam Group to learn about the production process as well as observe production lines based on advanced and modern technology. This visit proved a progressive, industrialized and modernized Vietnam as mentioned in the lectures.

Closing the program is a cultural exchange with Uruguayan students. This visit helped the delegation of lecturers and students of the Republic of Uruguay have more knowledge and meaningful cultural experiences in Vietnam.

From May 16 to May 21, 2023, Foreign Trade University, represented by a delegation led by Assoc.Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Tien, Vice President of the University, embarked on an essential visit to the University of New Brunswick (Canada). This visit aimed to foster partnerships in executing aAffiliate Bachelor's Program in Business Administration.

The highlight of this endeavor was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between FTU and the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus. This memorandum opens an array of academic choices and new horizons for Foreign Trade University students seeking to further their education in Canada.

During their interactions with leaders and faculty members of the University of New Brunswick, Foreign Trade University received commendation for its proficiency in education and collaboration, which significantly contributed to the accomplishments of the University of New Brunswick. The Affiliate Program, even in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, remained largely unaffected. In fact, it is the only cooperative program that remained resilient during these challenging times, ensuring that students could transfer and pursue their studies according to their prearranged schedules.

Coinciding with the visit of school leaders, Dr. Dev Mitras, Dean of the Faculty of Management at the University of New Brunswick, organized a heartfelt meeting that united lecturers, students, and parents, culminating in a graduation ceremony. This served as a poignant moment for educators, students, and their families to reflect on their educational journey and share their insights gained through this productive collaboration.

The success of the negotiations during this mission sets the stage for both universities to build on this progress, implementing specific collaborative initiatives in the near future. This visit to the University of New Brunswick represents a crucial step forward in expanding Foreign Trade University's global academic network and ensuring a world-class education for its students.
