On October 19th 2017, the Foreign Trade University cooperated with Minami Fuji Consulting Co., Ltd that under the sponsorship of Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan Business Association - JBAV, Vietnam - Japan Institute for Human Resources Development (VJCC) solemnly held a ceremony to welcome Prof. Takenaka Heizo to visit, work with FTU and to be the speaker for a series of two conferences.
There was the participant of Mr. Sugiyama Himuro - Director of Minami Fuji Consulting Co., Ltd and the staffs, representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, representatives from JICA, trainees from the Global Management Centre (GMC), representatives from nearly 150 Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises.
On the side of FTU, there was the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Vice President, all leaders of units in the whole university and a large number of lecturers and students.
Prof. Heizo Takenaka delivered his speeches at the conferences
Prof. Heizo Takenaka is a famous Japanese economist and former politician. He is currently a Professor at the Keio University - one of the leading Japanese universities and the chairman of the Pasona Group. Mr. Takenaka is also the former Minister of Finance and Economy, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, Member of the National Assembly of Japan. In addition, he has also represented Japanese economists to participate the World Economic Forum for many years. He is currently a member of the Economic Advisory Committee for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a highly influential figure in both Japanese business and politics through his books and speeches.
This program of Vietnam - Japan economic and cultural exchange is entitled "Lead Asia's Future - An approach from an economic and artistic perspective" including two conference themes "Leadership & Adaptability to changing world" and "Japan Economy - Reality, Prospects and Impacts on the ASEAN Region" which is dedicated to the businesses of Vietnam and Japan. This is a program that gives a perspective on the two aspects of Economics and Culture between Vietnam and Japan. Accordingly, FTU and Minami Fuji Co., Ltd desire to nurture and develop talents in the future and hope they will be responsible for building a sustainable Asia.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of FTU welcomed Prof. Heizo Takenaka to FTU
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of FTU gave the warmest greetings to Prof. Heizo Takenaka and the most sincere thanks to Minami Fuji company for collaborating with the university. He affirmed that FTU was one of the special partners of Minami Fuji that fully met the ideal conditions and opportunities for the development goals of the company. The results of the ongoing efforts of the two partners could be mentioned as: the generations of students who have been and would be part of the GMC network, the cooperative head office of Minami Fuji company located at FTU, a plan to support the establishment of the International Cooperation office of FTU in Tokyo, as well as lectures and seminars on regional and world economic issues. Finally, he hoped that the seminar would be an excellent opportunity for hundreds of representatives from domestic and foreign enterprises to listen, share experiences, difficulties and build up a network of potential cooperation through discussion sessions.
At the seminar, the representatives of Minami Fuji company - Director Sugiyama Himuro expressed his sincere thanks for the good cooperation from FTU to successfully organize the conferences today. He emphasized that the human resources development training has always been one of the development priorities of Minami Fuji company, whose goal was to provide young generation leaders to be able to contribute to socio-economic development in their own country. He supposed "Up until now, the definition of top leaders has always been the experiences and the excellence of knowledge. But in an age where conditions change drastically like these days, it is more important than experiences and knowledge were a flexible head, a heart of integrity and a spirit of coping with the challenge".
At the first session in the morning, Prof. Takenaka focused on the fundamental changes in the global economy (globalization and digital economy), new factors which affected the economy (radicalism and industrial revolution 4.0), leadership in the global innovation era (a compass that replaced maps, a world in which knowledge was rapidly outdated, the era of self-reliance, the pessimism was the feeling, the optimism was the volition, giving the opportunity to become different).
At the second session of the afternoon, Prof. Takenaka shared the views on the economy of Japan and ASEAN in the context of the industrial revolution 4.0 which was taking place globally, trends and prospects of the Vietnam-Japan economic relations in the near future.
Prof. Heizo Takenaka introduced his first and only best- selling book
Another highlight of the conference was networking session and tea party with the participation of nearly 150 business leaders in Vietnam and Japan. Moreover, Prof. Takenaka's first and only best- selling book in Japan with the title of "Japan and the world to 2020 - Major Economic Changes" would be introduced the translation into Vietnamese.
At both conferences sessions, all the delegates had heated exchanges and discussions, interesting questions from the participants were responded convincingly by Prof. Takenaka, providing useful knowledge and understanding.
Also within the framework of the Vietnam-Japan exchange program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan - President of FTU had an intimate meeting, party reception and worked with Prof. Takenaka. He expressed his pleasure and honor to welcome Mr. Takenaka to come to Vietnam for the first time and deliver two speeches at the Foreign Trade University. He said that Mr. Takenaka's visit was a vivid expression of relationship as a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries Vietnam and Japan in general, as well as Foreign Trade University and Minami Fuji company in particular.
Before the end of his visit to Vietnam, Mr. Takenaka expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Board of Management, officers, lecturers, students of the Foreign Trade University and Minami Fuji company for the respectful, warm and friendly welcome that FTU and Minami Fuji company have had for him. He also hoped to visit Vietnam and the Foreign Trade University soon in the future.
