On 9th June, 2017, the Faculty of Business Administration of the Foreign Trade University (FTU) organized a scientific seminar on "Governance Issues in Startup Business".

In recent years, "start-up" or "start-up business" is a hot topic that is discussed in many business forums. In addition, it is receiving great attention and many policies to support and promote the start-up from the Government. By 2016, the number of start-up businesses in the market has reached 110,100, an increase of 16.2% against the same period last year, according to the Business Registration Agency at the Ministry of Planning and Investment. The driving force behind this strong start-up wave is the legal regulations, the improvement of the business freedom policy, the rapid development of the information technology revolution and the dynamism and creativity of young people and young entrepreneurs.

However, the success does not come easily to start-up businesses, especially small and medium companies. So how to help them to be firm in the process of establishment and development? The Faculty of Business Administration of FTU has organized this scientific seminar in order to share the research results as well as to get more contributions from the multi-dimensional perspective about this matters.

On the guest side, there were: Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - the champion of the "Start-up with Kawai 2016" who was currently a co-founder of Green Space Coworking, Ms. Do Thi Huyen Trang - founder of Vietcare Logistic and co-founder of 7Astar Tutor Center.

From FTU, there were the presence of: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy - Vice President, Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Chau - Former President - Editor-in-Chief of the External Economics Review.

The seminar also attracted the participation of lectures who were interested in the topic, and especially the attendance of alumni who have been developing and launching the startup projects to share their experiences.

Assoc. Prof. Le Thai Phong - Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration emphasized that along with the same spirit of the scheme “Supporting the National Innovation Startup Ecosystem by 2025” which was launched by the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, young people, especially the students of FTU with their enthusiasm and creativity, were having the opportunity to express themselves in their startup projects. As a place of training, the teaching methods and approaches of the lectures of the faculty of Business Administration must be closer to reality, in order to equip students with the most practical knowledges and experiences. For that purpose, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thai Phong expects the seminar would record the practical experiences, lessons for students before graduation.

The seminar took place in a lively atmosphere with many presentations from the guests. As well as answering the questions, the guests shared their valuable practical experiences while communicating the enthusiasm, optimism and overflowing enthusiasm to the students who were nurturing their projects.
