From 10th to 12nd May, 2017, the 17th General Assembly of the Francophone University Association (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie - AUF) took place in Marrakech City of the Kingdom of Morocco.

This was an important meeting of the Francophone University Association that was organized every four years. AUF's main task was to support the cooperation and solidarity between francophone university institutions and promotes the development of higher education and research. It brings together universities, academic networks and research centers, using the French language.

The meeting was attended by 678 delegates from AUF's universities, academies and research institutes from countries around the world. Foreign Trade University (FTU) has been a member of the AUF since 1996.

Within the framework of the session, there were seminars with topics that were related to the quality of training and research; Employment problems of graduate students; The role of the university in national, regional and global development.

At the end of the session, the delegates have agreed through the operational strategy of the period 2017-2021 of AUF. They all elected Mr. Sorin Mihai Cîmpeanu - Rector of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest (Romania) to become the President of the AUF for the term of 2017-2021.
