Prof. Hermann Simon is known as one of the leading researchers in management and a marketing and strategic consultant who has great influence in the world, especially about pricing strategies. He is also the Honorary President of the strategic consulting company "Simon-Kucher & Partners". Prof. Philip Kotler has stated that "No one knows more about price strategy than Simon-Kucher".
The Economist journal also praised Simon-Kucher as the world's leading pricing strategist. With his reputation, Prof. Hermann Simon has been invited to lecture at many famous universities such as Harvard Business School, Standford, London Business School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology…
In the seminar at Foreign Trade University, Prof. Hermann Simon shared a topic on an overall strategy that was both close and very practical with Vietnamese businesses: hidden champions who were put in the context of globalization. Those were small and medium enterprises that accounted for more than 90% of the total number of enterprises in Vietnam and were also a business group that played an important role in the general development of Vietnam.
With more than 20 years of research experience on this subject, one of the messages that Prof. Hermann Simon presented and shared with the current and future leaders of the business was to really become the "hidden champion", would need to focus on the core products and services and effort of self- realization but must be the market leader.
This message was completely different from the conventional view of product diversification and enhanced outsourcing in the new context, which opened the door to hope for Vietnamese SMEs.
